This mud brick house was built from the dirt on site. The thermal mass of the bricks keeps the house cool in summer and when the wood stove is on in winter, the house stays toasty. The living area is orientated toward the north using passive solar to warm the concrete slab.
Naturally the house relies on tank water and water is pumped into a tank up the hill which gravity feeds into the house. The windows were hand made from recycled hardwood.
We ask that you separate your rubbish and we will recycle paper , aluminium and glass for you.
